[ reign's assumption hasn't hit the spot entirely, but neither was it entirely wrong. still, nightingale's professionalism, his sense of duty and his control far outweigh any interest he may have in others around him. that is especially true given that he isn't unaware of how the district is affecting him, that it is affecting him. that not everything he feels is his own desire, or not with the strength he feels it. ]

[ If only Reign could sense the strangeness in the air, but he was not attuned to anything magical, or something entirely different, so the oddity was lost on him. Besides, this was the red light district. It was a given that this place was heavy laden with desire and lust, thick with passion and sex, a strange mix of aphrodisiac of its own.

Reign himself thrived in such places, though he wondered what truly was the reason for Nightingale being here. ]

Well... [ He cocked his head, crossing his arms, a finger tapping his chin in thought. ] It's hard to say, if I'm to be honest with you. Most people come here for the pleasure of the flesh, and such talks of politic is rarely spoken aloud. But I've heard things here and there. The consensus, at least here, is split between both. I'm not certain about other areas, though. What about you? What have you heard?

[ the true reason for nightingale being in the red light district is utterly shocking: it's the district he's been assigned to patrol. that's it. he isn't here looking for a diversion of the physical kind. or the mental or emotional. or any kind at all.

still, he isn't unaffected by everything going on around him, even if he means to remain an outsider, a bystander, watching more than anything else unless he sees actual breaches of the peace. ]

I'm interested in this area right now, not others. [ so he inclines his head in acknowledgement of reign's words. partially in thanks, too. ]

It's similar elsewhere, too. Opinions are split. In Wyver, it sounds like they're far less reluctant.

[ If only Reign knew Nightingale was on patrol duty. After all, he'd expected those who joined guard duties to be wearing a uniform of some kind. Perhaps it was better this way. Less conspicuous and less likely to have the citizens be on their guard.

Reign nodded as he listened, humming thoughtfully, then a furrow of brows. ]

The Wyverns are less reluctant? In regards to going for war or aiming for peace?

Far less reluctant about going to war.

[ the clarification is quick and calm, neutral despite the fact that war is nothing good and nightingale knows it all too well. ]

Ah... Well, that's good to know. I can't imagine what it would be like for the locals if a war breaks out.

[ Reign had been close to experiencing it where he came from. If Jack and Humpty Dumpty had succeeded, humans and vampires would be out killing each other. ]

How long have you been here? Since the time you woke up.

[ nightingale has gone to war, and the ghosts of it haunt him still. not actual ghosts; those he'd know how to exorcise. his lips press together briefly. ]

Soon to be five months, now.

[ Reign gave a small nod, humming softly. ]

That's quite some time. I myself have only woken up about two months ago. Do you like it here? Whether it's Olympia or Wyver.

[ Reign was still taking some time to get used to life here, but it was hard to determine if he would prefer one faction over the other. ]

I like some of the people I've met.

[ nightingale allows after a brief moment of consideration, head inclined and his tone warm enough to take any sting or harshness out of the words. ]

But I would prefer to still be on the world I was born in. [ for the storm not to have happened. ]

Well, it's always nice to make new acquaintances. Forge alliances if need be.

[ Reign let a small grin form on his lips. He knew the importance of such relations. After all, he was quite familiar with it back in his world, despite already being expelled from his clan.

But the next statement made the grin droop a tad. ]

Ah, I know what you mean. Who wouldn't want to return to their home world? Home is always the best place. Is there anyone that you know off from your world? Have you found them in the stasis chamber?

So it is.

[ it is nice and that's come as somewhat of a surprise to nightingale. even before the loss of the entire world, he'd been — somewhat reserved, to put it mildly. peter's apprenticeship has done a great deal to pull him out of the folly and his somewhat self-imposed exile, but even so, the weight of loss is not something easily shaken.

that he enjoys making new acquaintances here is somehow unexpected, though it probably shouldn't be. ]

I found everyone I've looked for. [ in the stasis chamber. not awake. ]

I'm glad to hear that.

[ Reign truly was, even if those people were still in stasis. At least it meant that they will one day wake. He couldn't imagine what it would feel like if he couldn't find the people he was looking for.

To lighten the mood, he threw a flirting grin at the man, though he half hoped that his teasing wouldn't offend. ]
