[Today's teacher (yes, the teacher is a Japanese teenager) can be found sitting on a bench in the gardens. It may take her a moment to notice someone else is there, but she makes up for it once she does jumping up to greet her potential student.]

Hi! Did you come to learn magic today?




If you came to laugh:

[While no one was around to teach, Akko had decided to practice her own stubborn spells. She had just started to get the hang of making her broom fly when… well, everything happened. There were only two choices as far as she was concerned: she could be sad about the end of the world (and she was!) or she could keep on moving forward.

In true Akko form, she was going to keep pushing herself until she got it right. That way, when Professor Ursula woke up (and Akko just knew she would one day!) she could show her how much better she'd become.

So, there's a witch, and a wand, and a broom in the gardens. However, none of them are doing much flying. It looks like she's back at square one for the moment as she continues to straddle the broom.]

Tia Freyre. [Nothing.]

Tia Freyre. [Still nothing.]

Oh come on! Tia Freyre!

[ Here Rohan is, trying to draw a sketch of this ...lizard he found on the ground, when a young girl suddenly starts making a scene nearby. He tolerates it at first, until the noise she makes chases the lizard he's looking at away, and this is Rohan's cue to close his sketchbook and walk over. ]

Little brat. Why don't you play at home? You're disturbing the peace of the gardens. [ More importantly, his peace, because he's the most important person in the gardens right now. ] What are you even doing?

[araearyrha]

[The interruption comes just as her broom finally listens lifting her up a few inches into the air. Of course, with her concentration broken Akko ends up falling off, crashing to the ground.]

Isn't it obvious? I was trying to fly. I almost had it too.

[insist]

[ Oh. Well then. He honestly thought this child was just pretending to be a witch, but she might be the real deal after all. Does he care that he made her crash into the ground, though? Nope. You can stay on the ground, small child, Rohan isn't going to help you up. ]

... I thought you were just messing around. So it's an actual spell?

[araearyrha]

[Excuse you, she's not a child!

Akko stands up, dusting herself off as she huffs at him.]

Of course, it's a real spell. What kind of witch would I be if I used fake ones?

[Okay, there's no way Diana could possibly miss those repeated shouts of a spell she knows well.

And the fact that they're repeated indicates that it isn't going well.

So Akko's shouts will soon be joined by a much calmer echo:]

Tia Freyre.

[Yeah, her broom is working just fine, Akko.] You're still having trouble with it, I see.

don't laugh at her Diana

[Why'd Diana have to see this? Sure she knows Akko's still working on getting her magic back, but... it's still embarrassing.]

Yeah... I thought it would be easier now but it looks like I still have a lot of work to do.

she's not laughing!

[Diana is floating on her own broom, a Luna Nova race broom with a thick shaft and a metal handle towards the tip. She's not very high off the ground, only a little above eye level.

But it's still a reminder that she can do it and Akko can't. Oops.] And here I thought you'd had a breakthrough. [It's said matter-of-factly, but still... kinda disappointed.]

It might be easier here, actually. Magic is much more plentiful than it was before Yggdrasil reawakened.

[araearyrha]

[For her part, Akko just flops down on the ground with a sigh.

She doesn't mind that Diana can do it. It's a reminder that Diana was able to get her magic back, so it's possible for her to do it as well.]

There's no telling how long ago that was. I'm just rusty.

learning as best as anyone can

[She feels kind of dumb for even going, but she's been fascinated with magic ever since they got down to the isles, and the closest she's come to using it is in the Simulations. But that... wasn't even really her. Someone like her, sure, but she was definitely playing a different role.

A role that should have just iced Manley.

Oh well. Regrets.

She's wearing a long sundress--about the only good thing that she got from Wyver--and looks a little startled by Akko shooting up to her feet.]

Yeah, I am? I don't even know if I'm capable of learning magic, but I'm interested I guess.

[araearyrha]

[Akko's dressed in her school uniform because that's all she has and ...well they're in school. Sort of. She has a student, so it counts!]

Great! [Her excitement suddenly drops however at the idea someone might not be able to learn magic.]

Oh, I didn't think about that. Not everyone could learn at home either, but I thought it might be different here.

[A beat later she's back to smiling and just as cheerful as ever.]

It never hurts to try!

[winddaughter]

I know that there's some differences with magic depending on... the world, and here I guess, from what I've been told. [Her whole one discussion about magic.

She's at least faking the confident expression on her face though.]

Yeah, of course! And at the very least, it doesn't hurt to know about stuff in case I have to face off against it. [Like dealing with Wyver. Ugh.]

[araearyrha]

Right!

[She takes a moment and tries to think which would be the best spell to try and teach someone. Tia Freyre is supposed to be an easy one - except she can't actually do that one herself as well as the others.]

Hmmm... How good are you at imagining different animals?

[ Waver doesn't know what he's doing. It's not like he really needs to learn magic. He can do his own. Poorly. But studying magic under someone from a different world might actually be interesting.

Then he sees it's a Japanese teenager and he has his doubts. He scoffs lightly as she jumps up and speaks. ]

I came to sharpen my own skills but...do you really know any magic?

[araearyrha]

[Oh great, someone came! Akko doesn't pay any attention to his attitude since she's just excited to see someone, anyone showed up.

But wait, he's going to do what?]

Are you a witch too? There weren't any male witches at Luna Nova, it's an all girl's school. Or rather it was. I was going there to learn to be a witch. So yes, of course, I know magic.

[chickenhearted]

I'm a magus. [ He tilts his head. ] An all girl's school?

[ Sounds a little bit familiar. ]

I was wondering if our magic was compatible, like if I would be able to perform a spell you taught me.

[araearyrha]

I'm not sure. It's actually a surprise that our magic works here. At home, we couldn't go too far from the Philosopher's Stone before we fixed everything.

[They were only trying to save the world - no big deal.]

[Well if anything, Yu did come to attempt to learn something. He gave her a grin and small nod.]

That's right. I'm Yu Narukami. It's nice to meet you.

I'm Atsuko Kagari, but you can call me Akko.

[Yes! She has a student. Now she just has to be able to teach him something.]

Do you know any magic already?

[izanyagi]

I will then, Akko-san. Or should I call you Akko-sensei?

[You can totally do it! He will be the most patient student.]

I can call on my Persona which lets me use spells, but I can't otherwise.

[araearyrha]

Akko-sensei...

[She hadn't thought about that.]

I mean, I'm not really a teacher so whichever you're more comfortable with is fine.

What's a Persona? Is it like a wand?

Learning magic with Akko-sensei!!

I don't know how much I can really learn, but-- oh, you're that witch from before!

[How nice and specific of him to point out...]

[Did Akko ever actually get to see what Shell looked like when he eventually turned back from being a bat? Or heard what his real voice sounded like? Probably not-- actually no, since lbr it's 100x funnier this way. But he recognizes her at least!]

[araearyrha]

Huh?

[She steps back a moment completely confused. How could she already have a reputation? She's been quiet and good. Really she has.]

Did... did Diana say something?

[steponme]

Diana...? Oh! Of course you don't recognize me.

[Pointing up at himself--] I was the one who was turned into a bat up on the station. This is what I really look like! And, er... sound like.

[well... Mordred was trying to take a nap in a nearby tree (because there's nothing out of the ordinary about that) but some noisy child is determined to make that 100% impossible.

that said, there is a very grumpy blonde lounging on a branch about five feet above Akko's head hard core judging her.]

Who the hell is Tia Furayray??

[whoever they are they must be deaf because anyone could hear this loudmouth from a mile away, that much she's certain of.]

[Is that a... Akko looks around to find out where that voice is coming from. Why is there a person in the tree?]

Tia Freyre, not Furayray. And it's not a who, it's a what.
