[The night is young, and the place is slowly filling up. Venom had only been working at the brothel for a few days, but he figured he should at least try to get to know his co-workers. He already met one of the models and got to know him in the most intimate way possible. He's still sort of feeling off regarding that night, though he bears no ill will towards the worker. Thankfully, the aphro that permeates the district is loosening him up, so he's not as stiff as he's being his wallflower self.
He's even greeting people if they're close enough to him!]

[Cayde has a vague recollection of Venom from that whole 'Emergency Landing' debacle, but he never got the guy's name that he remembers. Either way, it's enough that he recognises him as another refugee to put him at ease. Not that he really needs to be put at ease, slipping behind the bar casually to get a glass and pour himself a drink.]
[ Shino's big and loud enough that he's probably been at least a little on everyone's radar as one of the refugee's filling in as a model. He's got a good record back home for making friends with the sex workers at the brothel he used to frequent and has a pretty reputation for lightening the mood of a place like this. Despite having some ugly scars to hide with the way he wears the 'clothes' they give him to wear here, he's dragged that peppy attitude along.
He drops himself onto one of the bar stools, elbows on the counter. ]

She's making a name for herself at this office, too, often the cause of a broken wrist or a stab wound on someone who decided to fuck with her. They're all treatable, but the wounds are deliberate. Over the past month they've gotten fewer, but there's always that One Guy. ]

[ The gash on the man's arm is bleeding profusely, but it's not deep. Unusually, not her fault this time. She leans against the door — she always sticks around to watch how he treats the wounds. ]
Yeah, thanks. [ d is grunt led. he doesn't like maester - his life's far removed enough from everything he knows without anyone referring to him by some high fantasy olde worlde title, thanks, and John's always fairly brusque when he hears it. but he's efficient as always, unphased by an observer - he's checked the gash and started stemming the bleed before he glances over at her and adds, ] Come on. I'll talk you through it.
[ every time she's stayed to watch. it's a basic wound, nothing it'll hurt to split his focus on and with a few staple steps worth covering if it's learning she's interested in, so why not offer?

[This is the first time Venom's been in a bar that has a resident doctor. It makes sense considering the models' health and the possibility of fights. Honestly, it's kind of brilliant the more he thinks about it. During a particularly slow night, Venom takes a breather from his shift and makes some tea before wandering off. May as well get to know the doctor in case he has to deal with a rowdy patron. And said rowdy patron ends up with a pool cue to the gut.
Imagine his surprise when he comes around the corner and finds the office.]
[ John's in the middle of sorting a supply cabinet when a familiar voice greets him, and he turns over his shoulder to check and— oh! well, this is a face he recognises. ]

[ bar, is what he's asking, but he let's it dwindle into nothing just in case Venom's job involves rendering Other Services. it's not his place to judge, and frankly he wouldn't care, but there's still some ingrained English prudishness in him and a subsequent willingness to let other people bring it up first. ]
[ Working at Shades Darker has been an experience, that's for sure. One that Rogue has grown to enjoy, but still one that takes her by surprise at times. It is a brothel, after all, even if she simply tends the bar for it. There are regulars she's come to recognize, and less frequent or first time visitors who seem curious more than anything. Her fellow refugees tend to be among that crowd, coming in to see what the fuss is about or visiting someone they know who works there in some capacity. Whatever their reason for being there, she doesn't judge, just offers a charming smile and greets them all the same.
Over the past weeks that she's worked there, she's done her best to recognize which of the employees are refugees as well. It's important to keep up appearances around the local population, so she's not always able to approach the various coworkers she notices during her shift, but as time allows she takes a moment to say hello and introduce herself in her smooth southern drawl. ]

[ Generally, she doesn't order a drink whenever she's near the bar, the air already filled with enough intoxicants without needing to add yet another to the mix. Her restraint's not easy to shake most days but easier to keep herself in check when there's no alcohol buzzing through her system.
Still, the relaxed atmosphere loosens her shoulders and settles her pace into a languid walk rather than a brisk march. Even her expression smooths out into something neutral rather than disapproving, and she's in largely good spirits as she steps up to the bar, hand reaching out slightly as she orders her usual - an extremely tame glass of water. (Hydration is the key to good health, along with a good night's sleep.)

Of course he did - got the experience, got the chops and the confidence and some very open ideas about what the human body can do and can't do (you'd be surprised how creative you get when all your FWBS are aliens). He even knows how to mix some drinks for whenever Venom or whoever's on shift gets swamped and he's talked his fair share of customers into loosening their wallets for another round.
Depending on what time of the day it is, he'll be either discretely snooping on the local rumor mill, either by swinging around with drink orders or letting a customer straddle him, ear angled toward the buzz of conversation, or he'll be waiting for an appointment, leaning up against one of the brothel's doors with his ankles crossed and his arms folded over his chest. He may or may not be dressed but if he is, it's tight enough that he can flaunt what he's got without trying too hard.
Either way, he'll be giving you his full attention.
Unless he owes you money. Then he might be quietly ninjaing his way out the back door and calling in conveniently sick.
Naturally, Venom being the awkward individual he is when not in a professional setting, comes across Peter working his magic on a new client. Not that he can blame the client at all; Peter is a fascinating man, and Venom can see himself returning to him in the near future. Of course he blames that on the district's atmosphere, but Venom needs to learn how to loosen up, and that it's okay to find more than Lord Zato attractive.
After finishing an order, he turns to Peter and his potential client, offering a pair of shots to them. "I won't keep you, but I wanted you to try this. I mixed a cherry-like liqueur with a local whiskey to take the edge off the sweetness." It's simple, nothing special, but Venom's still learning his way around the bar. And it's his way of fail flirting with Peter.
Peter doesn't miss a beat as he takes the shot and his client takes the other and he grins. Oh, he knows the flirting's all for him. But he's working right now and that means you stroke the client's ego before his and so he doesn't pause as he smiles, wriggling a little under the woman straddling him as she braces herself with a perfectly manicured hand against his shoulder.
"You're just that special, gorgeous. I'm gonna have to fight off the bartender to get some quality time with you," Peter holds up the shot so he can clink it against hers, as if Venom had been aiming his freebie shots at her instead of him. He gives her a little squeeze against her ass to punctuate his point, gets a sound that might be a giggle, and he glances over her shoulder to wink at Venom.
Mai is probably best known around Shades Darker for her cool demeanor and the way she tends to keep to the shadows, at least if she's playing security that night. She seems to be a worker too though her appeal is a little hard to pin down. Not that she's bad looking but with the chill of her demeanor and the sharpness of the knives she's not afraid to employ if need be, it seems like it would take a certain type of person to want her in any sort of brothel worker capacity.
She seems attentive though. Even if she's leaned against the bar supposedly relaxing with her apathetically bland expression, she's taking notes. She's here to learn after all and that's precisely what she's going to do. Even bedroom sessions are more about her garnering information than they are about the sex itself.
Tonight she's sipping on a drink and the look she gives says whoever sidles up to her either better be entertaining or have a good reason for it.

It'd be entirely fair to question if he was right for this job at all if one hasn't seen him in action; the way he can spot someone about to get rowdy (or even violent) before the tide seems to have turned, or how he can nail somebody's hand to the wall from across the room with pinpoint accuracy as casually as taking a handful of snacks. Which he also does semi-frequently.]
[Other times, he listens in on conversations relatively discreetly, attention ostensibly on the room as if it's impossible to pay attention to two things at once. His gun hasn't left its holster since he got here, and truthfully he favours the bar's knives over his own on the extremely rare occasion it's necessary to get one out. He tends to keep a deck of cards though, one that's gotten popular since people realised the allure of a pretty person on their lap or their side while they somehow win at a game they've never even heard of before.]

[ frankly, archer is the diametric opposite of cayde as far as his job as security here is concerned. from looking at him, there's never really any doubt that he's here to do his job, and that alone; from the way he silently glowers at patrons, it's also pretty obvious what that job is. if anything, he has more of a dissuasive presence than anything else - an unspoken assurance that if you try to start anything, it won't go well for you.
thankfully, that changes when he's off the clock. though he's no less surly as a patron, he at least doesn't seem to be actively daring everyone around him to step out of line. he's usually content to just quietly sit drinking alone at the bar, either in front of or behind the counter; he's probably not supposed to be back there making his own drinks, but he always finds himself there regardless. ]

thankfully, that changes when he's off the clock. though he's no less surly as a patron, he at least doesn't seem to be actively daring everyone around him to step out of line. he's usually content to just quietly sit drinking alone at the bar, either in front of or behind the counter; he's probably not supposed to be back there making his own drinks, but he always finds himself there regardless. ]
Your shift just starting? [ he's at the bar now pouring himself a drink when he notices cayde arrive... or maybe cayde was always there... i don't know, maybe archer isn't as attentive as he likes to think he is. either way, archer's shift just concluded, so he presumes cayde is here to replace him. ]
