EUGENE SEVENSTARK
[The request is met with a nod, as he moves to pluck one of the hot dogs off the grill and place it in a bun. He's about to ask what sort of toppings the man might like before he's taken aback by the compliment to a shirt that wasn't even his initially. (Would he be able to keep it after? Who knows...)
Compliments are foreign to Slaine. He's only received a few in his life and doesn't really know what to do with them. It shows as he stares, brain scrambling to find an appropriate reply. Did he deny that it was a nice shirt or did he accept it?]
Thank you. I didn't pick it out.
[That should do it, right?]
What would you like on your hot dog, sir?
YAMAGI GILMERTON
[There's a small nod out of him as he feels himself receding back into his metaphorical shell. He's aware that not everyone has someone who cares about them, and he knows he's lucky to have just one person, but he also knows he can never expect Asseylum to care for him as much as he cares for her. Just having a place by her side is enough, to have her smile toward him and look to him for assistance. Just...little things. He couldn't ever ask for more. Not being in the position he was in.
Just that was enough, or so he tells himself.]
I know.
no subject
[Yamagi himself is not much for human contact, but he rests a hand on Slaine's tense shoulder all the same.]
Don't die a stupid death, alright?
no subject
I can't afford to die.
[Not when Asseylum was still asleep in a pod. She'd need him.]

[ Euphie's waited for the house to clear out, loitering worriedly in the doorway of the kitchen. She's been meaning to have this conversation with the boy for a while, but with so much else to acclimate to and with that deer hatching out of an egg and trying to budget for the household and keep track of all three of these boys all at once, time's somehow gotten away from her.
Still, no time like the present. ]
In here, please.
touches face
Standing from his bed he moves to join her in the kitchen, nerves taught. Euphie was his age (so he'd found out) and seemed normal enough...but there was an air about her that silently demanded respect, which he was willing to give. It was that air that also made her low-key intimidating, at least to him. The last thing he wants is to upset the person who is so obviously in charge of their mutual living quarters. Pushing a little smile onto his lips he faces her.]
Is there something I can do for you, Euphie?
no subject
[ She knows she can be intimidating, overbearing even. She's tried hard to find her footing here, among these boys she has no right to but wants to do well by all the same. To be enough but not too much, to look after them without belittling or demeaning them.
It's proven more difficult than she would have thought, with how limited her scope of life experience was prior to this. ]
I was hoping, in fact, that you could explain to me just why the pantry is still full when I know I went grocery shopping almost a week ago. I know for a fact Mikazuki and Hush have been eating their share, and I hardly need to ask anyone to account for what I've consumed. But what of you?

EIN DALTON
All he'd wanted to do was go out and purchase more goat milk for Mikazuki's deer, after having seen there was only enough left for the morning. Being pro-active however hadn't gone according to plan, and instead of ending up back to his house after visiting the market, he'd wandered into a seedier part of town.
Slaine can't say he's ever ended up in a Red Light district before. Sure, he'd been dragged all over the world by his father when he was much younger, but a young boy would've had no reason to be exposed to the seedier underbelly of society. Living on Mars had only further sheltered him, especially when it came to interacting with the opposite sex. Having a princess as your only friend and the only person who doesn't hate your guts will skew your perception just a bit, with regards to the more carnal desires a human could have.
Those desires are on display, to the point Slaine isn't sure where he ought to look. It's a lot easier to keep his gaze pointedly angled down, away from store windows and the fronts of establishments. Hugging his carton of goat milk, Slaine does his best to backtrack and find his way out...but it's becoming increasingly difficult. It's hard to process all the stimulus around him, lights, sounds, smells - it all blurs, leaving his head feeling hazy. The quicker he could find his way out, the better, especially since he was still unarmed.
The last thing he needed to do was wind up in trouble or worse - spill the milk he'd gone out of his way for.]
GET U A DIFFERENT KIND OF MILK SLAINE
Reminded him of being in Gjallarhorn, just slightly.
Anyway. He turns a corner too quickly and narrowly misses bowling over some kind of... child? He catches Slaine by both shoulders, only just managing to keep the boy from falling over or dropping his precious cargo. ]
My apologies-- Um.
Are you lost...?

HUSH MIDDY
[They do look quite different, but they're both incredibly interesting. Gently he takes both of them from hush, setting them in the palm of his own hand. Gingerly he strokes the live dollar, only to flip it over to get a better look at its wriggly underside.]
Isn't it neat? What looks like fur is actually its little legs. Well, if you can call them legs...
[Is he getting a little excited? Looks like the water of the tidepool is doing wonders when it comes to getting Slaine to relax and open up a bit. Flipping it back over he places it back into Hush's palm, deciding to pocket the white one.]
Put it back gently, okay? I'm going to see if I can find something else.
no subject
[ He's eyeing the little creature while Slaine examines it himself, wondering like a kid almost, "How does it live the way it does?" When he gets it back, he might have been tempted to throw it... he remembered that discs can go quite a distance! But Slaine tells him to be gentle, and the effects of the lagoon's water mellow him out as much at it probably does for the other blonde here. ]
Tell me when you find something, alright?
[ Dipping it back in the water, he feels the odd texture of the dollar with his thumbs, then wades a bit to find where he had grabbed it. There's a group of them together in the sand, like a family... it won't be too difficult, hopefully. In the meantime, he's curious what Slaine will find. ]

FRANKENSTEIN
[Make sure he doesn't mess up? Literally what???
The way Frankenstein moves and works the grill is impressive. He does it with practiced ease, and Slaine is content with watching him, if only to learn by doing so. When he's spoken to again he finds himself jolted out of his concentration, a sense of dread settling in his gut. Rationally he knows Frankenstein isn't scolding him but old habits and reactions die hard.]
...I haven't made it to the shoreline yet, but I'd like to.
no subject
[ He’s having an okay time doing this. He knows there’s a slim chance of Slaine accepting, given that it was already a bit of a struggle getting him to accept taking over the grill, but it is a shame that he’s not out there doing fun stuff. ]

MIKAZUKI AUGUS
And yet here he is, walking just slightly behind the shorter-yet-older boy, as he does his best to keep his nerves in check. Having been caught in the middle of bottle feeding the little fawn Mikazuki had become mother to, he'd been invited to come shopping with him for various items for said deer and more. Two pairs of hands was better than one, after all, and Mikazuki might need help carrying stuff back. Or so that's what Slaine tells himself. Why else would he bother asking him to accompany him?]
no subject
Before this, he'd never seen anything like it. Every once in a while, he finds himself thinking that this is how a city should look. It makes him not mind spending dusk until dawn patrolling it, then sloughing off his jacket at daybreak and getting to work at the market. Speaking of... ]
It's this one.
[ He veers off, past a burly looking fellow with horns, and approaches a prominent grocers' situated on a wide street corner. ]

[In plain terms: kill those who tried to kill him and his princess. Which was...a lot.]
no subject
Yeah? How well did that work out for you. [ for a softie like him, she can't imagine she would be good at any of those things. he looks like he can break with just a little flick of her finger, but she's not always right about people. ]

LEANNE
[It's in this instant that Slaine would be grateful for the sunburn tinging his cheeks red, hiding the blush he feels creeping up on him at the sight of her smile and breathy laugh.
Don't turn down her offer don't turn down her offer don't turn down her offer-]
I'd like that.
[Smooth move, Slaine.]
no subject
Yeah? [ She perks up, eyes bright as his words ring genuine in her perspective. She's got no reason to question him, taking his acceptance as truth. ] Cool! Then we'll do that... haha, I'm Leanne, by the way. It's nice to meet you.

my wildcards are always jokers
Because of the lone performer they've gathered around. Who's kicked up and is juggling with daredevil accuracy a remarkable array of balls, knives, and assorted juggling pins with effortless ease and acrobatic dance.
It's pretty inhumanly ridiculous.
"What a pretty clown mommy!" one little girl remarks, and her mother just tips her head to the side, as thoughtful as she is confused as she regards the performer's painted face and what are mysteriously long eyelashes...
Although honestly being so smartly dressed in black and white and wearing a waistcoat as he is, he rather looks more magician that clown. Punctuated as well perhaps by how when he stops—ho!, catching everything he's been juggling so neatly in one hand—and mysteriously produces a worn top hat in his other. Which he brandishes with a flourish as he takes a deep bow to the crowd...
...and then produces to collect the tips he's earned. ♥
"Aren't you going to do more?" the little girl asks somewhat tearfully as the rest of the crowd begins to take its leave after paying him his due. A few other children cluster with her and nod their heads vigorously as well..! But he smiles then, so wide and so bright to contrast the clownish smile painted on his face, and reaches out to ruffle her hair lightly. ]
Perhaps later. ♡

...An expert?
[Okay, this conversation just got even weirder if that was even possible. How was he supposed to reply to that?]
I'm not sure anyone can be a banana expert...but I know how to eat them, if that's what you're asking about?
