[open] the misadventures of princess moron
Who: Yona (
cutefaced) & you! With some closed prompts for Mephisto (
meinwaifu), Hak (
bodyguarding), and Jae-Ha (
razzledazzles)
What: Yona meets some people and takes a dog for a walk. (Spoilers: the dog is a demon.)
When: Various times (with at least one prompt set before Jae-Ha's No Good Very Bad Day)
Where: Various locations
Warning(s): Nothing yet? I will edit if that changes.
open - olympia;
[Being allowed to wander around on her own is still taking some getting used to.
Yona doesn't live in a castle anymore, and she can come and go as she pleases - provided that Hak and Jae-Ha don't catch her getting up to mischief, anyway. There's something almost exhilarating about the freedom, but it leaves her a little anxious, too - what if she does get in over her head?
But she'll never figure anything out if she sits around at home all day, so into town she goes.
The theater and market districts are what catch her eye the most, and you might run into her examining jewelry and clothes at the market, or admiring the performers near the theater.]
Wow...
[Regardless of where you do find her, though, she's bright-eyed and excited. This is all so cool.
...but, uh, she's also a sitting duck for pickpockets, so maybe someone better stop her from making eyes at all the pretty clothes and pretty people before she winds up in some kind of trouble. Or, you know, tell her to stop staring at them, if they're the object of her attention at this time.]
open 2.0 - thesa station;
[Honestly, it was only a matter of time before she came back up here.
She's among the stasis pods again, seeking certain familiar people. She remembers seeing Soo-won asleep in one of these pods, so she knows he's safe here somewhere, but she'd feel a little better about things if she could see her father's face, too.
So as the hours tick by, she wanders the pods, carefully examining the people who are still asleep. It's not unlikely that she'll get distracted, though - you might find her gazing longingly at Soo-won's face if she stumbles upon his pod again, or find her looking curiously at an assortment of interesting-looking people that she doesn't seem to recognize, or even find her lingering someone you recognize (especially if your castmate is attractive, because she likes pretty faces).]
...they really saved a lot of people, didn't they...
[Maybe you'll even catch her mumbling to herself!]
closed to mephisto, hak, and jae-ha;
[So, back on Olympia. The weather's not too bad today, which is probably a good thing, because it's hard to walk a dog in the rain. And Yona sure has found a dog somewhere, and she sure has, uh, adopted it.
I'm so sorry to everyone involved in this.
Anyway, they're out for a walk, and she's debating heading to the market district to look for more ribbons to tie around his neck. This is what she's spending Hak's hard-earned silver on, isn't it...]
What do you think, boy? Do you like blue or green better? ...bark once for blue and twice for green!
[Can he even see color? She doesn't know.
Anyway, they're bound to run into someone she knows eventually, but for now she's just enjoying the nice day and occasionally crouching down to give Mephisto a pet or two because he's just too cute in this form (and also she doesn't know he's not a real dog).]
closed to mephisto;
[I'm not even sure how we're going to do this reveal but we joked about ~breaking a curse~ so you know what? Here we go.
It's late, they've both tuckered themselves out wandering around, and now they're back at Yona's place. It's late and she's a little tired, but there's always time for snuggling with a dog, so she's petting him and -
She leans in and drops a kiss on top of his head!]
What a day, huh, boy?

I have to say I've mixed feelings about it, Yona. There are some people here I'd rather they never woke up at all.
[Count Cruhteo he could deal with waking up...Inaho and Count Saazbaum though he'd rather put a bullet through them both. Again.]
no subject
That much is obvious from the expression on her face. Sure, there are people she bickers with. There are even people she dislikes - but is there anyone she dislikes enough to never want them to wake up again...?
Honestly, she's not sure.]
...are there really people who are that bad...?
no subject
[There's a bit of a somber look that he gives her. They'd had such fun the first time they'd met that this is kind of a huge downer but it is what it is. He's not going to lie to her.]
If there were people who had attempted and almost succeeded to kill someone very important to you, would you not wish they'd remain asleep?
[Or dead but hey, he knows that's a bit morbid.]
no subject
[She's not sure. She's never really had to deal with that sort of thing before - her gaze comes to linger on the sleeping count again as she thinks it over.
The insurgents who killed her mother. Would she want them to never wake up? ...yes, probably. She'd been so far removed from the situation - saddened at her death, but never really knowing any of the details of it - that the desire for revenge never really took hold of her.
She'd gotten sad, not mad.]
But why would they save someone like that when there are so many nicer people they could save...?
no subject
[They're not Santa Clause, with a naughty or nice list, or a God sitting up in heaven ready to weigh the sins of their heart.]
I suppose it's easier to save groups of people rather than hand pick individuals.
no subject
[Yona doesn't know how anyone would even begin to decide who was and wasn't worthy of saving. It can't be an easy job - so maybe that's why they're not picking and choosing who to rescue...]
Um, Slaine...? [She lifts her gaze from the pod she's been admiring, then glances back at the veritable sea of them.] ...did you have someone here you were hoping to see...?
no subject
Her name is Princess Asseylum.
[The name comes easy, sliding off his tongue, said with a sense of fondness that can't be quantified.]
I try to visit her here every day if I can.
no subject
[There are so many princesses here. Granted, Asseylum is still sleeping, but there are a lot of them that have woken up, too.]
Um... could you take me to meet her? I know she's still sleeping, but if she's your friend, I'd like to see her face so that if she does wake up and I see her down there, I can tell you right away.
no subject
[That gets him to give her a curious look as he nods at her request.]
Of course. It would be my pleasure to introduce you to her.
no subject
[She fidgets. She's blown her cover more than once already - once on the network, even! ...but she's pretty sure Hak doesn't want her telling everyone and their mother that she's a princess here, just in case.
Luuuckily his agreement gives her a good opportunity to change the subject! She smiles and folds her hands in front of her.]
Then, please, lead the way.
no subject
Yona, this is Princess Asseylum Vers Allusia.
no subject
[Yona steps up to the side of the pod, eyes widening as she takes in the sight of the girl. She's an equal opportunity ogler, so of courses he says what she does:]
Slaine, she's beautiful...
[She can appreciate beauty when she sees it, okay?]
It's very nice to meet you, Princess.
[...huh. It's sort of weird to be calling someone else "Princess" - Yona can't help but giggle a little. ...she hopes Asseylum wakes up soon, so she can get to know her.]
no subject
[No really, this is kind of depressing. He'd give anything for her to open her eyes right now.]
She is very beautiful, though...you're right.
[Too beautiful. So, so beautiful...he kind of wants to die just a bit.]
no subject
[It's the fault of the Storm, or ... whatever caused it. Honestly, there's a whole lot Yona doesn't know about that, a lot she questions about that... but what can they do, other than wait and pray for their loved ones to wake up safe and sound?
Her gaze comes away from Asseylum to rest on Slaine, and she bites her lip. A moment later, she reaches for his hand, concerned.]
...are you okay...?
no subject
[Ah, but this isn't the time and place for him to have a complete and utter breakdown now, is it? The hand that finds his is startling at first and he looks at it, only to look away a moment later, but doesn't shy away from the contact, opting to squeeze her palm against his instead.
Was he okay? Absolutely not...but Slaine Troyard hasn't been okay for a very long time. His free hand reaches up as he rubs at his face with his wrist.]
I'm okay, yes...
[No, he's not.]
no subject
[...this might not be the time or the place for it, but she's having this conversation anyway. When he squeezes her palm, she curls her fingers around his hand to tighten her grip.]
...don't lie. You're upset.
[That much is pretty obvious, honestly.]
But you're going to be here for her when she wakes up. [When, not if.] She'd be happy to know that, and she'll definitely be happy to see you.
no subject
[He's never been a good liar. Even when he was younger, it always showed on his face. Now is no different, although he's not even really attempting to hide how he feels. She calls him out but he doesn't care, relishing in the security her hand brings. He's been so starved for gentle, human contact that just something as simple as this is enough to soothe.
Would she be happy to know that? Would she be happy to see him? She always had been in the past...so why would that change? Either way, he'd be here for her when she did. He'd make sure of it.]
I'll be here.
[He'd be here, by her pod if he could physically manage it. Being human however comes with the need to eat, sleep and whatnot and so as much as he'd love to glue himself to her side here...he knows that's not possible.]
no subject
A similar state - what does that mean? She can't see why it would be his fault even if she was. And there's always the chance that she'll wake up, just like they did... so in the end, isn't it all right?
It's going to be all right. She's here, even if she's sleeping, so there's always the chance she could wake up one of these days.
Yona makes no move to pull her hand away from his, mainly because it seems like he really needs the comfort.]
You're a good friend. She's lucky that you're waiting for her.
[She can understand the desire to remain right by Asseylum's side - after all, she feels the same way about Soo-won. (Hak hasn't told her the things she doesn't know about him, just yet.)]
...but waiting can be lonely. There's someone I'm waiting for, too...
[She hesitates.]
Maybe when we come up to see them, we could come together?
no subject
Was he a good friend? No one has ever called him one before. Sure, he's done literally everything he possibly could for the princess suspended before him but a good friend?
He can only aspire to be. He can only desperately hope that Yona's words are worth their weight. The offer has him tearing his gaze away from Asseylum, only to settle it on the girl still holding his hand. When was the last time he held someone's hand this long for comfort? It must've been back when he was younger, when his father was still alive.]
...I would be glad to accompany you.
no subject
...anyway, Yona's impressions of Slaine have been nothing but positive so far. He's introduced her to all sorts of delicious foods (and even let her eat one he'd initially gotten for himself), and now she's found him here, worrying over someone he obviously holds dear. What's not to admire?]
Thank you. [She smiles.] I think this will make it easier on us both.
no subject
I should be thanking you...you're very kind.
no subject
Granted, that's because up until arriving here, she wasn't often in the position where going out of her way to be kind was even something that occurred to her, unless it was Soo-won she was being kind to; she has an unfortunate tendency to take people like her father, Hak, and the palace servants for granted.
But that's not so easy to do here - not when she is painfully aware that they've all lost their homeworlds, and that people they miss are still here, waiting to wake up.]
I think we could all use a little kindness - especially in a place like this.
[She smiles and brings up her free hand to tap on one of her cheeks.]
Come on, smile! Your princess will be happier if you're able to greet her with a smile when she wakes up, probably.
no subject
So, he smiles, even if it's a sheepish display.]
You're right.
no subject
[It's no bright, beaming grin, but... it's getting there. She hopes that before long, the day will come when he can smile without being prompted. For now? This is fine.
But, hm... now that she looks at him—]
Wow! You have a really pretty smile, Slaine.
no subject
[Wait what? What did she just say? That his smile is pretty? Okay, this is getting to be a bit much. First kindness and now compliments? On his smile of all things?]
You...really think so?
[He's never thought much about his own appearance, let alone his smile. What he does know however is that his cheeks are beginning to feel rather hot.]
