[ Despite being involved in the brunt of whatever detonated in the market district, Juvia still takes it upon herself to help those immediately around her. Even though her desire to find out who is directly responsible for this is strong, her need to be useful overpowers it.sick leave
While still semi functional, with no dire signs of sickness, she chooses to assist in disposal of anything contaminated. For the hour she is Alive catch her roaming around, offering to pick up slack for anyone slowing down or needing an extra hand. ]
[ ―but it isn't long into helping with the recovery efforts that the symptoms hit her. It starts when her already clammy hands are suddenly, to be frank, clammier. Skin is paler than usual, and mouth suddenly dry. The crate of food she holds slips from her fingers and lands harshly on the floor. She thinks it's because she's not paying attention, which, is true. Juvia is still thinking about the confusion and fear that hit her during the attack.wildcard
But it's when she has to step aside because she simply can't pick up the crates anymore does she realize something is wrong. In a panic, she separates herself from the collection of people in the market district, taking off her hat only to place her hand up against her forehead. ]
Juvia.. Juvia can't tell the difference.
[ She mumbles, stopping once she's far enough by herself to check her own temperature. ]
[ if you want to plan out something specific, or throw something at me, feel free to! my plotting comment is over here and my plurk isenoshima if you want to contact me directly c: ]
rin
Rin?
[ It was a simple grocery run that her and her roommate were on, with them forgetting something she decided to go back and get it. They lived close, it wouldn't take too long. Her first thought, after pushing through people and calming herself down, is to see if he's alright. When she thinks she hears him pick up, the first thing he hears is. ]
Stay where you are.

Just hold on! I'm on my way!
no subject
I'm fine. [ If he can hear it among the commotion, there's a slight tremor to her voice. ] It's just smoke. [ But it was still loud, loud enough to make everyone including Rin to think it might've been something else. ]
Juvia thinks she's coming towards you.
no subject
What happened? Yer not hurt?
[ He looks frantic, looking around at their surroundings as though he'd be able to deduce where the explosion came from or who had done it. And to see if there was anyone with serious wounds. ]
no subject
Something loud went off.
[ They're still victim to people pushing against them, not that she pays much mind to it. All her focus is on the thickness of the smoke and the voice in front of her. ]
Juvia doesn't know what it could be.
no subject
And ya didn't see anything? [ There could be another explosion - or whatever it was - for all he knew. ] Let's just get out of here before something else happens...
[ They make it to a more open clearing, but he keeps glancing back as if he'll somehow magically deduce the root cause. ]

riza
Sorry. [ A pause. ] They only let Juvia take this much of the non-infected food.
[ Not that it matters in their case, anyway, but Juvia still presents the pre-packed food with as much enthusiasm as a sick person can. She's managed to slip for a short period of time from sorting out the infected food to meet up with Riza. She keeps her lips firmly pressed, nose wrinkling. ]
Are you feeling well?
no subject
But the sight of Juvia, determined as always and hands filled with foodstuffs, does plenty to brighten Riza's mood. If nothing else, she certainly won't starve while in Juvia's company. ]
This is more than enough, Juvia.
[ There's a nasal quality to her voice, a symptom of the congestion filling her sinuses, and probably enough of a giveaway that, while not dying of the plague, she's also not at 100%. ]
I've felt better, but the symptoms haven't gotten too bad yet. [ Yet. ] How are you, Juvia? Are you well enough to be out so much?
no subject
That's good. Many people have been getting worse, quicker than anticipated. [ That's why she's glad to see Riza still kicking. Even if she sounds a little worse for wear, this is better than nothing. ] As for Juvia.. The fever is hitting the hardest.
[ Being made of water is probably the Worst when your body temperature is skyrocketing-- if her abnormal amount of sweating wasn't a dead giveaway to that already, it might be the faint heat emanating off her that will. ]
Everything else is bearable, for the moment.
no subject
Are you sure you should be out here, if your fever is so high? I can walk you back home.
[ It's important to see what they can learn while still able to move, but even more important that they take care of themselves, and she'd be more than happy to leave the investigation to others if it means getting Juvia to rest. ]
no subject
[ Although she might take her up on that offer later. The sun beating down on them certainly doesn't help her predicament. ]
I want to help as much as I can.
no subject
All right then. [ She relents with a small nod. ] At least let me carry some of that then.
[ The food, she means, with one hand outstretched to take some. ]
And if you feel too tired then we'll take a break.

sick leave
between studying the gas that caused the outbreak, occasionally trying to corral some of the infected toward Sanctuary, and trying his best to look after a roommate who had been close enough to get sick in the initial blast, Peter has plenty on the agenda. not that he can convince himself to ignore the associates running around, because of course he can't. the city is in a fervor, it'd be wrong for Spider-Man to let them take an advantage. he spends any spare time on rooftops trying to spot anyone that needed stopping...
though, when he sees a familiar face, he's usually willing to drop the mask at least for long enough to check in.
which explains his sudden arrival, a hand landing on Juvia's elbow to warn her that he's there. his hair is a mess, too... that happens when you rip a mask off too quickly. or slowly. or any time at all. ) Hey— the difference in what? ( he might not have assumed much from the rooftops, but looking at her in person it's harder to miss the fact she doesn't look herself. ) Are you okay?
no subject
Well, Juvia was checking to see if she was okay. [ A roundabout way of saying probably not, but being too stubborn, she won't openly admit that. ] For the difference in...
[ Trailing off, she looks up at Peter. Really looks at him. All of him. All of him and his peculiar choice in clothes. For a moment it seems like she's going to say something slightly helpful, or that she still has the capacity for coherent thought, right up until she mumbles out— ]
..Did you do something with your hair? You look different, today.
no subject
( as if he was just wandering around the street, it was normal to check in on friends when you spotted them, right? at her mention he looked different, Peter pales a little, gaping for an answer and messing up hair in a nervous gesture that really doesn't help it look more normal. at least by running a hand through it, he realizes it's standing straight up, and attempts to flatten it. )
Uh... I think I just forgot to comb it this morning. ( which isn't even a lie, because lmao look at this kid, like he combs his hair. okay, now can they be done talking about him? ) You think... you think you might have a fever? ( she did look as if she was paler than usual. )
no subject
She doesn't dwell on it long-- but she does make note to reassure him his hair is fine later-- as her thoughts are elsewhere, and it's obvious where they are judging by her silence after he asks if she has a fever. She can't even say she doesn't know why she's got the start of a lovely sheen of sweat on her, or why she's so dehydrated, because she does! ]
Juvia, actually, came out here to check for that.. [ She gently leans against the wall nearest to her, placing all her weight against it, as she tucks her hat into the safety of her arms. ] But.. when I put my hand against my forehead, everything felt the same.
no subject
luckily for him and his bad excuses, Juvia doesn't seem in the state to call him out on it. he's seen the affected all over Olympia, he only has to look at her to guess that she's sick. he should keep his distance but instead he steps closer, puts a hand on her shoulder. )
Maybe you should head home. Rest up a little. ( he doesn't need to test the temperature of her forehead, he can see just by looking at her flushed skin that she has a fever. ) I can take you, if you want.

Sick leave
When he spots a young woman with her hand against her forehead, he looks her over. She doesn't seem to be well.
"Miss...ah, Juvia, was it? Do you need to see a healer?"
no subject
Truth be told, she hasn't even thought about seeing a healer, if this was something that could be cured immediately. So she stays quiet in thought before answering, lips pressed together. "Juvia hasn't considered seeing a healer yet.. Or been to one, since arriving. Are you one of them?"
no subject
"I am not, unfortunately, but I do know where they can be found - both locally and among the refugees."
Given what John Watson had described over the network, Tarrlok's somewhat hesitant to seek out local healing and it doesn't sound like something one should pursue unless one was near death.
"Based on some of the side effects I've heard about of the local medicine, your best bet might be among the refugees settling into Olympia instead."
no subject
But it just isn't in Juvia to impose herself on people like that when she could just.. try and ride through it. She purses her lips, palming at the top of her hat in thought, clearing considering his words.
"Side effects?" she echoes it, not at all familiar with what he might be talking about. "What have you heard?"
no subject
He's not sure about who has exactly what abilities, but he did speak to a doctor and knows there are others offering their talents at least.
"Still, that was specifically the potions. They may have other healing methods with little to no side effects. There were some waterbenders with healing abilities in my colony, but none of them are...recovered from the storm just yet."

yusuke | backdated to phase 2!!!!
The mask doesn't do much for her breathing, or cough, but it certainly doesn't hide the faint joy that strikes her features when she sees someone familiar on the street.
It's her friend, one of the Phantom Thieves-- the Fox! Well, they're not friends yet, but Juvia still waves with as much enthusiasm as a sick woman can, even going on her toes to get his attention, without having to use her voice. ]
no subject
But a little fresh air and a trip to get some much-needed medication (lord knows if it's helping, though—sugar pills and painkillers, at this point) is good for the soul, as is waving back towards a fortuitous run-in with a familiar face. If two people sick as dogs running into each other can really qualify as fortuitous, that is.
Either way, it's easy enough to reach her when he's sticking to the fringes of the crowds. ] Ah, Juvia...
[ They haven't spoken at great length, but his voice (muffled through a paper facemask) sounds almost apologetic. ] I see neither of us have escaped this epidemic unscathed.
no subject
She'd laugh, if not for the dryness of her throat, at his words. Literally, true.. So true it makes her feel more tired than she should. ]
Were you infected through someone else?
[ Because she's well learned by now, having done that to someone herself, it's another reason why this disease is spreading so fast. ]
