❪ october plot conclusion; wyver takes ❫
THE END TO THE EPIDEMIC ![]() On the morning of November 3, there is a palpable buzz on the streets as both the natives of Wyver and Olympian refugees share the same sentiment: excitement. Word will quickly spread that a cure to VIOLET2710 has finally been developed and is ready for mass dissemination. Throughout the city, the cure can be found at any of the numerous small temples and outposts of the Altar of Volkkra. The shamans of Volkkra will happily distribute the cure to any of the ill in need of it, without restraint. A joint venture between both Olympia and Wyver, citizens of both are granted equal access. As the lines form, the shamans will ask that able-bodied persons administer the cure to themselves and to others. Don't let the needles scare you! It'll only hurt a little. At each of these outposts, signs will be posted giving credit to those who aided in the creation and manufacture of the cure:
As they distribute the cure, the shamans will note that those receiving the cure should give thanks to those named. Without their contributions, it may have taken much longer for the cure to be found and created in large enough quantities to save everyone. SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO? ![]() With Olympia and Wyver's fragile alliance still in effect and a cure to VIOLET2710 distributed, Olympia finally opens its gates once again to Refugees if they feel a little homesick. High-speed transportation will be available at record low costs as politicians, merchants, and other business owners desperately hurry home to salvage whatever they can from the terrorist attacks. Refugees are advised to remain in Wyver until food rations can be recovered and the water can be decontaminated. However, those more personally attached to Olympia may discover that the city is preparing a mass call for volunteers that will go out in the near future. In the meantime, and understandably, you should do what you can to help the Wyver people. The Dragon city has started posting quests, not only for you to do your part, but for the Wyver people to gauge your worth as visitors to their sacred land. Thesa also has an interest in the unfolding events. Refugees have now been exposed to both lands, and certainly some will find themselves more invested in one side than the other. Darma finally wakes from slumber to observe, and while she is thankful that Refugees are immersed in her world, there is something foreboding on the horizons. On the night of the 3rd, Darma will appear in your dreams for a conversation. It has been some time, Refugee... ah, no, certainly not for me. I am Darma. It is my hope that Sael as served you well in my place. The Natha do not feel, but I must express gratefulness that I am able to return to you. My greeting extends to both old and new faces. As we watch you, we see that this world and its people have begun to influence your hearts. In time, your loyalty to either of these lands, to Olympia or to Wyver, shall affect how you are seen by the other side. As observers, we are unable to provide either region a winning edge. Thus, once you pledge loyalty to one, you cannot use Thesa to teleport to the other. Choose wisely, or choose none at all. There is no war for those who do not wish to see it. For those who do... if I may be prudent— this alliance will not last. Keep your friends close, Refugee, for they may not remain so if your allegiances conflict. You will wake before you get a chance to reply. THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM IN THE UNDERGROWTH ![]() The locals often speak of a cursed place deep within Wyver territory, confounded by the spirits of dragons who passed long ago: those who still wish for vengeance on the people of Olympia for their untimely deaths. Though these stories began as nothing more than urban legends among the raiders and shamans, over time the idea has become mainstream. So much that the rumors have started causing unrest between the people of Wyver and their guests. More than a few people within Wyver have used these rumors as justification for opposing the current alliance with Olympia. Many Wyver locals see these rumors as a sign that their ancestors disapprove of the alliance. As a result, those in charge have decided that it would be prudent to mitigate some of the anxiety from either side. Those who are willing to look into these rumors further will find themselves lead towards the darkest parts of Wyver, deep within the Undergrowth in a region devoid of light. The faint of heart will be advised against delving further. ![]() This creature is able to camouflage itself perfectly to its environment. This, paired with darkness of the deep Undergrowth, makes this beast nearly impossible to detect with the naked eye. The creature also release a noxious gas that can spark a range of emotional responses: some may grow hysterical, while others may be consumed by despair. The effects only last for minutes, though some may linger in the back of one's mind for hours after. While the creature does not actually attack people directly, the other beasts of the Undergrowth may take advantage of its victims. Fortunately, Wyver is not looking for the creature's capture. They respect the delicate balance of the jungle as they see themselves as its protectors. For now, they only desire more information about this creature in order to assuage the people. Good luck and do your best to keep your wits! ALRIA'S FULL MOON ![]() While Olympians worship the ever-present light of Thesa, the people of Wyver are captivated by the smaller, yet ever-changing Alria. Alria cycles in and out of the night sky much like what denizens of Earth would remember as lunar phases, and those who are familiar with that may notice it is very similar to their own. And likewise, the creatures, men and women of Wyver are affected when Alria transitions into its full moon phase.
THE VOLKKRAN PACT AT NAMARAK SUMMIT ![]() Despite being mistaken for a pair, there is no need to take the shaman's advice. The necklace will disappear if the Pact isn't completed in a week's time. However, if the Pact's benefits might be something of interest to you and your partner, then you'll be advised to travel further south, until you reach Namarak Mountain. At the summit, you'll find an altar, where you and your partner are expected to return the necklaces and make a vow to support one another. The shaman there isn't particularly interested in what you do to complete the Pact. In fact, many people who attempt the Pact tend to... go a bit further than is necessary, when it can be achieved through a simple kiss between the partners. The Volkkran Pact's effects are immediate upon physical contact. Each Pact can be broken through a special process with the head Shaman, but there needs to be at least a month's time before one can sever it. The pairs may be fake and still receive the benefit of the Pact, though they may find that sharing power with someone they are not truly committed to is a mistake. NOTE: Players may be creative about what powers can be shared. The recipients of the such powers can never be granted its full strength, but it may be strengthened with Wyver REP rewards. Please note that PCs does not need to pledge allegiance to Wyver in order to keep the Volkkran Pact; they will only need 10 Wyver REP in order to strengthen it. Refer to the questions thread below if you have any questions. BUILD-A-BLADE WORKSHOP ![]() Sirod, the weapon's head shopkeeper, is interested in procuring a few materials for his clients. While these clients have already collected the claws of larger beasts and various other parts needed to create their new weapons, they are still missing some rare, necessary items. In particular, they are still missing the following: Those who retrieve any of these items will be rewarded 100 Silver. FINAL OOC NOTE
An AC-eligible thread for 2 WYVER REP POINTS may be submitted from this log. SUBMIT THE THREAD HERE by DEC 10th 11:59 PM EST.
We will no longer be providing overflow posts. In an event where the post hits CAPTCHA, players are advised to move threads to an overflow post on their character journals or create their own catch-all post. These threads remain eligible for AC, AC Rewards, and REP. 1 SILVER = 1 US DOLLAR. |

[That's a major part of why she was so quick to come up here, honestly - to apologize. She's been feeling down in the dumps about how their last interaction went for the last couple of days.
Even if she really did just say what was on her mind... she shouldn't have said it as bluntly as she did.]
I just... umm. [She fidgets with the hem of one of her sleeves.] Especially at the end, what I said... it came out all wrong.
As... yourself, you're a little hard to approach. You seem so sure of yourself, and that isn't a bad thing... but it sort of seems like you're a little difficult to keep up with. Like there's kind of a... distance, between you and everyone else.
But when you're a dog, it's easier to get closer to you. I couldn't put you on my lap and pet you right now, but... we got to know each other because you were a dog. And that was what made it possible for me to be able to talk to you when you're yourself, too, so...
Maybe the curse wasn't really a bad thing? Because... it gave you another method of getting closer to people.
That's what I meant.
[And it just came out as "You're cuter as a dog."]
I'm sorry about the way I phrased it, before.
no subject
So you're saying my brother's curse was a blessing in disguise? [...] You know, I wonder if that's really so far from the truth... though we may have never gotten along, he was always the more compassionate out of the two of us-- ah, in his own way.
[He doesn't seem offended by her explanation -- but Lucifer was a touchy subject, and simply needing to address him at all has him shaking his head. But it's too late to do anything about that, having already set the lie in stone previously -- and so, he's quick to look back at her with a smile.]
When you put it that way, it doesn't sound as bad. Still, I do think I overreacted. I suppose I didn't consider it at the time, but consuming alcohol so soon after being subjected to that monster's toxins... I don't think that mindset truly left me until the next day or so.
no subject
[She wouldn't say it's all good - what if he'd never regained his human form, she wonders? - but she'd like to think that it's not all bad. He's the one who first made her think that, even, with his talk of turning the curse into an ability of his.]
Um... about that. Are you sure it's all out of your system? I mean, what if this... [She makes a motion to indicate his fall.] Was because of that?
Maybe we should take you to a doctor...?
no subject
[Slightly sheepish again. Maybe even genuinely -- he wasn't expecting this apology to go quite so deep. And those strange feelings from before were still lingering. As much as he feels it would be wise to get away from Yona right now, he really doesn't want to leave her side.]
...you said before that you wanted to meet a demon, yes? I've managed to stabilize the schedule for when I transform, so there should be no danger of it happening with them around. And-- I wanted to do so once you were well again, but... [THIS HAPPENED]
no subject
...although she's oblivious to that; she knows she's close to Jae-Ha and has managed to get close to Mephisto, somehow, but she doesn't know what exactly it is that makes it so difficult to put distance between them.
When she's made aware of it, she might feel guilty, but for now, ignorance is bliss.]
I did say that, but if you're feeling unwell, we can do it another time... [She bites her lip.] You don't have to worry about changing, but what if they see you get sick? Won't that be just as bad?
no subject
[He snaps his fingers to teleport them just a little ways further into he station, where the quarantine area for supernatural pets and creatures is located. He inputs his information to unlock the "pet" in question for a visit--]
[But pauses before opening the door.]
...now, before we go in, I'm curious! Just what do you imagine when you picture what a demon ought to look like?
no subject
[...hmm.
Yona actually has to stop and think about that, and she taps at her bottom lip as she does. After a moment, she speaks up.]
Maybe... something with red skin and beady eyes. And horns and... it carries a club? And it has a look on its face like Hak's when he gets angry.
no subject
Oh my... I wonder what Mr. Hak would have to say about that comparison?
[Aaand he opens the door, where there's a nice little play room for animals and owners alike to have little playdates. This isn't his first time being up here, but it is his first time in a while.]
[...]
[And for some reason, the only thing in the room is a worn-out looking pink umbrella, with colorful patches sewn into it and an ice cream design on the handle.]
1/2
[She says, smiling...]
2/2
...
Yona stares.]
Ummm... that's an umbrella.
no subject
[He takes a few steps closer before crouching down and holding out his hand, as if trying to call it over... and probably looking pretty silly while he's at it.]
You see, demons aren't like humans, such you or Mr. Hak... they don't have their own physical form. And so, for them to exist among us--
[Aaand with a poof of smoke very similar to the one Mephisto causes when he teleports, the umbrella suddenly shifts, turning into an odd little bat-like creature!]
[Which perks up!! And chirps!! And flaps it's little wings!!!! when it sees Mephisto, rushing over so quickly that it looses its balance and flops on the ground. It's not really made for walking.]
--they must possess an object in the physical world! And demons such as this koumorigasa are known for possessing umbrellas.
no subject
Yona's eyes go wide, and she darts forward a few steps, going still when the little creature flops forward. She makes a soft, slightly distressed noise and starts to reach out for it, as if she might help it up.
...but is it even safe to touch someone's familiar?]
What's its name?
no subject
[...the teeth look pretty sharp though. Might wanna watch out for those.]
Hmm! You know, I've never considered naming it! I've had the umbrella longer than I've known the demon living within it, after all. And it'd be a bit odd for a grown man to name his possessions.
no subject
You should name it! It's a living creature now, isn't it?
[She tilts her head to one side, then studies the umbrella.]
...what kind of name would you want to have, if you could have any at all?
[She's. Trying to talk to it. Why.]
no subject
[The demon just sort of tilts its head to the side at the question before pulling back, fluttering up into the air and aiming to land up on her shoulder instead... so it can nuzzle her face.]
[...]
[It's gonna start trying to eat her hair in a minute, tho.]
Fufu, I'm afraid this species isn't very talkative! Those that possess especially well-used or beloved umbrellas are a rare, benevolent sort of demon known for guaranteeing their masters safe passage through storms, or helping lost humans find their way home.
[Just all around kawaii tbh]
no subject
Yona, oblivious to the fact that the umbrella will soon decide that her hair might make a tasty snack, nuzzles it back as she listens to Mephisto's explanation.]
I see... then, since it's a nice kind of familiar, then we should give it a nice name, don't you th—
[aaaand there it goes]
...hey, it's eating my hair?!
no subject
[At least there's no drool or anything?? Any glance she'll get inside it's mouth is just some kind of black void. 2spooky.]
[But it won't last long, because in the next minute, it disappears in a poof! Only to reappear on Mephisto's outstretched forearm instead... as he flicks it on the head.]
Now now, behave yourself. I know you're excited to be see people again, but that's no excuse for acting out.
[What a good papa he is to his little abomination...]
no subject
[...is it a boy umbrella or a girl umbrella? She really can't tell... So "it" it is for now, since it's an umbrella.]
We could find it some food, maybe...
no subject
Oh no, demons like this don't need to eat. It's body is still simply an umbrella, after all. Actually, I believe it was simply drawn to how beautiful your hair is.
Certain demons require offerings before they'll do their masters bidding, though their tastes can be rather unconventional in the eyes of human. Long, well-kept hair, fingernails... some may even ask for blood.
[They're still demons, after all -- even if they can sometimes be cute like this.
Incidentally-- those who possess lost or broken umbrellas are actually rather dangerous! They wait for an unsuspecting human to pick them up before sweeping them up into the air, taking great joy in dropping them from high places.
no subject
...but, um. Yikes? Yikes. Yona can't even begin to imagine getting swept up into the air by a lost umbrella - why does that even happen?
Oh. Right. Demons.]
That's... But, what if it was picked up by someone who wanted to fix it, if it was a broken umbrella? That's not very nice of it...
[demons, yona]
no subject
[Well, Mephisto knows... kinda.]
Of course, I have many more familiars other than this one, and not all of them are quite as sweet. Why, even those with good intentions may still cause mischief whether they mean to or not! They can really be quite a handful at times.
[--is what he says, but this is the face he makes when he says it. But he can't help it... he's honestly really happy right now, being around his familiars again. It got pretty lonely without them.]
no subject
[Don't front, Mephisto. She can tell.
She can relate, even. The people she spends her time with aren't her familiars by any means, but they're all sort of a handful in their own way. Still, she wouldn't change them for anything.
It's probably the same way with him and his little demons.]
Maybe when I get stronger, you'll introduce me to the others.
no subject
[--you know, as far as some of them were concerned. He was definitely far less touchy-feely with the likes of Death or his Phantom Train. Those ones were just fun.]
I'm sure you'll have the chance to see the rest of them for yourself someday... why, perhaps by then, the Natha will allow me to summon them down below! They must be going stir-crazy up here... especially the monkeys. They do rather hate being contained like this.
no subject
[uhhh]
What kind of demons are they?
no subject
[He brings a hand to his chin, as if thinking something over.]
Oh, they're rather cute little demons, actually! In fact, they're even more harmless than my little umbrella friend here. [THE BAT CHIRPS IN DELIGHT AT BEING CALLED A FRIEND] But they do have a rather interesting effect on humans, compelling them to speak the true feelings in their heart.
