Who: Character Name (
sheriffing) & co.
What: doing things.
When: Januaryish.
Where: Olympia.
Warning(s): a quest, some target practice, some drinking?
1. A BLESSED ENTOURAGE ( closed to
wondie. )
[ every once in a while, it feels like her super power fails her. it's not that she isn't trying to sort out the situation in the group, but getting a feel for it is harder than she anticipated. Bosso's a skilled rambler, and while his wife seems happy to converse with him, she's not much for small talk with the hired guards. any other time and it might be understandable, but the woman who keeps to herself tends to look a little suspicious to someone trying to sort out a traitor.
Emma's noticed the kid, too, and Bosso's explanation of him only makes her more curious. is he angry at Bosso, or upset that he didn't take his advice? could that "bad crowd" have brought him further in than the old man realized?
they've stopped for a break by the time Emma opts to voice her concerns to Diana, and if there's anything that makes this mission a little easier, it's the fact that she's familiar with the woman. she sits down with her, watching Bosso and his wife catch their breath from a few feet away.
she tells herself that nothing could happen from here, but honestly? anything could happen. it always does.] What do you think of all of this?

2. SHOOT LIKE A LADY. ( closed to
revlon. )
[ somehow, the shooting range makes sense to her. it's something Emma knows how to do; something familiar in a world that typically isn't. she's been holding on to the bits and pieces of the life she knew, trying to piece them together in her efforts to start over here. it's not easy, and it's not without its setbacks, but she's trying.
meeting people like Peggy helps, because it reminds her that she's not the only one out of her element. she's sure the woman had her questions at first (since Emma had been less guarded about her life than she'd intended), but so far the strange life experiences have gone over well. Peggy, somehow, takes all of that in stride.
it makes sense to get in some target practice together, with both of them working for the guard. it also makes sense to keep their skills sharp in preparation for whatever might threaten them. it just feels like something might be coming, and as the tension between Wyver and Olympia grows, they don't have any choice but to be ready.
that doesn't mean they can't unite over something they're good at, though. Emma glances up at the sound of someone behind her, smirking when she catches sight of her new friend.] I hope your day was more exciting than mine.

3. DROWN SOME SORROWS. ( open. )
[ Emma's starting to spend a little too much time in the Entertainment District. her assignment with the guard, officially, is to patrol the Theatre District. on slow days, she tends to get more of a sense of the area than its people, observing the local businesses and the routines that the performers have fallen into. it's what brings her back at night, once her shift is over and she's in need of a drink.
if she's going to drink alone, she'd rather do it out in the open than in the empty place she's been staying. the music and dancing around her provides some distraction from her drink, even if she doesn't care to join in. she's sitting with a half-empty glass and a few empty seats around her, but if anyone would like to join her, honestly, she wouldn't mind the company.]
4. YOUR OWN ADVENTURE. ( open. )
[ have an idea for a thread with Emma? leave a top level here or plot with me at
swanning and I'll get something started for us!]

[ with the way things are going in this world, she has a feeling that the fighting's not that far off. she's not loyal to any of these people, at least not in the sense of being attached to Wyver or Olympia, but she promised she'd be a part of it, and she's pretty good when it comes to keeping her word.
initially, she kinda thought she'd end up hitting him, but it didn't really work out that way in person.]
I'm realizing that - yeah. That this is all there is.
[ there's no convoluted scheme to get back to Storybrooke because Storybrooke isn't there to go back to.]
no subject
[ It's not common for him to try and be sympathetic or understanding, not without reason. But he likes Emma and enjoys her company, so he'll make the exception for her. ]
Once things settle, it'll get better. And you know your family's safe. Asleep, yes, but safe in their sleep.
no subject
[ does she? sometimes it's hard to trust that stasis is as safe as they claim. but, in spite of all of her uncertainties, Maximus has a point. if they can't be awake now, there's still the hope they might join her here someday.
it's just a little difficult to hold on to that when she gets too far inside her own head.]
My family has the worst luck when it comes to sleeping. If they're not cursed into it, they're in stasis.
[ it's the first time she knows she can't kiss them awake, no matter how often she might wish she could try. the thought prompts her to take another sip of her drink, and when the barkeep offers her a refill, she turns to Maximus.]
I'm buying.
[ he's trying to cheer her up. one good turn deserves another.]
no subject
How can I possibly say no?
[ He flashes her a quick smile and orders up a drink for himself. ]
Cheers.

I get the feeling that if you didn't want to be here, I'd know it.
[ she smirks, lifting her glass once he has one of his own.]
Now that it's safe for you to be out and about, what have you been up to?
no subject
Not much, really. I suppose I should get a job. Now that I'm no longer royalty.
no subject
[ royalty on the moon. it'd sound unbelievable, but her family was royalty in the Enchanted Forest.]
no subject
[ Maximus hadn't meant it to be something that he "casually" brings up. Normally, he's more careful in remembering who knows what about him, but even he has a slip up now and then, and. Well. Emma's as much of a friend as he's ever had. ]
I was king. Attilan was a kingdom, small as it was.

[ its casual enough for Emma. titles aren't something she spends a lot of time thinking about anymore. considering the company that she used to keep, all of this is still pretty normal.]
The first time we landed in a different world, my mom went from being queen to being a teacher.
no subject
[ He says it with a touch of teasing, but he tucks that away. Emma doesn't seem like the princess sort, anyway, and he's selective about who and why he tells about being a king.
There's no ulterior motive here. For once. ]
Being royalty is a burden. Better to be a teacher, or a researcher, or a member of the guard.
no subject
[ there's a world of difference between her mom being a queen and her being a princess. the one and only time anyone has used that title on her, she was pretending to be Princess Leia.
but there's enough truth to it that she smirks, because he's within his rights to tease her. she's not much of a princess, she'll allow it.]
You know what they say, heavy is the head that wears the crown.
[ and she knows (from seeing Regina), that the power that comes with it doesn't guarantee happiness.]
What kind of job are you interested in?
no subject
I was thinking of trying my hand at the Simwe Institute. I've always been a little bit scientifically inclined, it seems the most appropriate place. I can't imagine working at a temple or a silk shop.
no subject
[ it's meant as encouragement; information is something all of them could use right now. she's trying to learn what she can from the Royal Guard, but the slow days drive her insane.]
I can't really picture you in a silk shop, either.
